PDO was uber fun. I fully let myself go for the first time in years but I didn't get into much trouble. In fact, I made enough new friends to make a new facebook account.
It's also a good twist of luck that I got the chairman position. I've never really had the confidence to adjudicate independently but then when I tried it, I turned out to be quite good. In fact, I was so good that when I spoke, you can hear the sound of girls in the hall getting orgasms [citation needed].
I learned lots of things there. In terms of debate, I learnt lots of new structures and styles that I didn't get to see in earlier tournaments that I've been to. It's not that other tournaments suck, it's just that I wasn't good enough to absorb all the information in those tournaments. Now that I'm improving, let's just hope I can be a better speaker next time around.
In terms of social life, I learned how to socialize with people. I was surprised that I broke the hard-to-penetrate (teehee) social barriers that people built for their institution. I ended up being close with UT Mara, IIUM Gombak, UiTM Jengka, UiTM Kuantan and Sunway University eventhough I hardly knew any of them before this. I ended up having to sleep at 4am every morning because I went to all the rooms and played cards all night long.
Not to mention I found out that I'm freakin' awesome in card games. Either that, I got good hands all the time. Hahaha.
I also found a small "family" where they asked me to call myself as their papa. As menggelikan as it was, I felt kinda honoured to be so welcomed into their family institution though it kinda made me feel old. I'm only 19 (technically)!
I'd like to blab more, but as you can observe from what I wrote above, I'm experiencing writer's block. Maybe next time I'll write better.
